Baby Food From Five To Six Months

Purées may be easiest for your baby at first. However, babies can quickly learn to chew soft, lumpy food even if they have no teeth. Ensure the food is well mashed and gradually make the food a thicker consistency. Try to limit the number of sweet or cereal purées to one a day, and always include a vegetable purée.

 

MOONG DAL KHICHDI

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp. split yellow moong dal
  • 1 tbsp. rice
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
  • ½ tsp ghee/butter

 

Instructions:
  • Wash and soak the moong daal and rice together
  • Add the turmeric powder and pressure cook it for 3 whistles
  • Remove from the pressure cooker and add a little bit of ghee. Mix Well
  • Mash the khichdi completely to a smooth consistency
  • Serve Lukewarm

 

 

Beetroot Carrot and Potato Soup

 

Ingredients:
  • ½ cup beetroot (peeled and chopped)
  • ¼ cup potatoes (peeled and chopped)
  • ½ cup carrot (peeled and chopped)

 

Instructions:
  • Combine the beetroot,potato and carrot in a pressure cooker with 1 cup of water.
  • Pressure cook for 2 whistles
  • Cool and puree into a smooth soup
  • Strain the soup and reheat to lukewarm before serving

 

 

Apple, Potatoes and Carrot Soup

 

Ingredients:
  • ¼ cup apple (peeled and chopped)
  • ¼ cup potato (peeled and chopped)
  • 1 tbsp onion (chopped)
  • ¼ cup carrot (peeled and chopped)
  • ½ tsp oil

 

Instructions:
  • Heat the oil and saute the onions for 2 minutes
  • Add the apple, carrot and potato and saute for 2 – 3 minutes
  • Add 1 cup of water and pressure cooker it for 2- 3 whistles
  • Cool and puree in a liquidizer
  • Strain and reheat to lukewarm before serving

 

 

Chickoo Milk Shake

 

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup chikoo (peeled and chopped)
  • 1 ¼ cup milk

 

Blend the ingreadients together in a liquidizer and serve immediately

 

Phirnee

 

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 ½ cup reice
  • 2 tbsp fresh fruit puree ( strawberry / peach/apricot / mango)

 

Instructions:
  • Bring the milk to a boil in a non-stick pan and add the rice flour
  • Mix well and simmer till the rice is cooked ( 7 – 8 minutes)
  • Cool and add the fruit puree.
  • Serve at room temperature

 

 

Banana Apple Pudding

 

Ingredients:
  • ½ cup banana (chopped and peeled)
  • ½ cup apple,  ((chopped and peeled and mashed)
  • 1 digestive biscuit (crushed)
  • 3 ½ tsp. ghee / 1 tsp butter
  • 1 ½ cup milk

 

Instructions:
  • Bring the milk to a boil and add the biscuit.
  • Allow it to mix with the milk so that the milk thickens
  • Mix well so that the custard doesn’t have any lumps
  • Cool completelt and add fruits. Serve immediately

 

Sabudana Kheer

 

Ingredients:
  • 2 tbsp sabudana (soaked for atleast 1 hour)
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ tsp. sugar

 

Instructions:
  • Bring the milk to a boil
  • Add soaked Sabudana and allow it to mix so that the milk thickens
  • Serve luke warm
