Tenzin Diskit Tahang : There will be hard times and frustrating times, but amid the challenges there are shining moments of joy and satisfaction!
Cot – check. Moses basket – check. Preparation for loneliness? Well no, it’s not top of the list for any expectant mother awaiting the birth of her first child.
There’s a so much of information available to expectant parents who want to know how to prepare – books, websites and friends – all advising on what to buy and what to expect. Baby lists with everything they need, and many things they don’t. But one element that few people talk about is how lonely first-time motherhood can be.
Not everyone is lonely. Many first-time mothers find their true calling during those early months, and embrace it. They may not know exactly what to do all the time, but they don’t let it derail them.
Being at home with a new baby can be an utterly overwhelming experience, and this is compounded when mothers feel they are the only ones who are. I think lots of women give the illusion of coping when really they aren’t. There is the pressure to be super woman and people find it hard to admit they find bits tricky. And then there are “what have I done” moments and thought how much I didn’t appreciate how easy life was – I think I’m always exhausted! I just want a few nights of uninterrupted sleep!
But,I still i love this more than anything – and see My mother who is the most beautiful woman I ever saw. I attribute my success in life to the moral, intellectual, and physical education I received from her, and how she raised 6 of us like a hurricane in its perfect power. And I realise the joy in motherhood comes in moments. There will be hard times and frustrating times, but amid the challenges there are shining moments of joy and satisfaction!
