Home Remedies: Keep Mosquitoes at Bay
Whether it’s the kids or on ourselves, no one enjoys being bitten by mosquitoes, and don’t even get us started on the itchy bumps and spots. One of our awesome mom’s ditched the lotions and creams out of tubes and tried some home remedies for keeping mosquitoes at bay.
- Vicks: Yes, it works! Apply some to the heels and elbows; make sure to avoid contact with the eyes
- Lemongrass oil in a diffuser: Light this every evening; you could also use camphor. Quickest fix to keep mosquitoes away.
- Neem Oil: Easily available at any store that sells Ayurvedic products, apply the oil to exposed areas, and even a little bit on your clothes. Do a patch test before you go to town with it. Also, take note, the smell can be a bit overpowering.
- Citronella Oil: Popularly known as Guchchh in Hindi, just one drop in a diffuser works like magic to help keep mosquitoes away. If you don’t have a diffuser at home, use a diya.
As an added precaution, as it gets hotter, dress your little ones in full sleeve clothes, especially when they go outdoors to play.
