If you feel like only little girls like to play dress up, guess again! Adding variety to the growing market of boy’s fashion is My Little J, by AKJ.
A mother of a 3 year old son, the designer centres her collections around comfortable and functional fashion for young boys, with clothes that can be worn for both Indian and Western events. Every collection comes with a back story – the denim line has been inspired by Mahatma Gandhi, and the cotton silk and linen line has been inspired by vintage modes of transport. Designs are young and fun, with intricate hand done embroidery and dabka work.
Where are ideas for little boys coming from? They’re actually inspired by what her husband would or could wear! The brand does light weight denim kurtas, but in a variety of silhouettes, so they can be worn with a pair of straight pants for a brunch, or a white churidaar for a more casual but traditional event. Step up your little boy’s swag a notch with one of their pocket squares; we’re even loving their linen and cotton silk shirts with shoulder tabs.
Summer 2016 Collection
The cotton-silk collection comes in interesting palates – pink, lime green, a peachy-beige, and other tone on tone pieces that are embellished with interesting buttons and embroidery. Also look for the linen and denim collection, the silk brocade bandis in various colours, and the peshawri pathan suits.
